Kathleen Copeland Counselling
Having spent the majority of my adult life working in the social care sector, I have found that counselling and psychotherapy are really where I feel I belong.
Making the first step towards contacting a counsellor can be daunting and incredibly brave. It’s very important to find a counsellor who you click with. So, I’m happy to have a chat over the phone prior to making a first appointment.
Counselling can help you make sense of things. It is an opportunity to look at patterns in your life and how you respond to things. Being very passionate about my work, I truly believe that talking therapies can have a profound effect on a person’s ability to heal, develop and move forward.
I offer face to face session one day per week from offices in Glasgow City Centre.
I currently work via Video Calling (Zoom) and/or Telephone sessions. I have completed an approved 80 hour training course in online and telephone counselling.
I can also offer 'walk & talk' therapy sessions - it can be beneficial to spend time outside and in green spaces - these can be an effective way to safely do in-person therapy. I have completed a CPCAB endorsed workshop on Walk & Talk Counselling and Ecotherapy.
I have completed a CPCAB accredited course in groupwork / therapy facilitation. I am currently developing group work around both ADHD and creativity. If this is something which you would be interested in, please contact me so I can arrange a session to discuss which group would be the best fit.
I have worked with issues such as bereavement, trauma, grief, body image issues, depression and anxiety, gender issues, PTSD, physical and sexual abuse, adverse childhood experiences, family estrangement, chronic ill health, domestic violence, loss of a child, miscarriage, abortion, suicidal thoughts, people affected by suicide, low self esteem and self harm.
I also have a keen interest in neurodivergence, particularly working with ADHD (diagnosed or self identified). I aim to provide a neurodiverse affirming space.
I am an LGBTQ+ and HAES friendly counsellor.
I have a particular interest in Creative Therapy. I have found that using various tools such as sand trays, images, objects etc. can really help clients to access and express how they feel, where talking and articulating feelings can be a big ask. This aspect is entirely optional, but I've found that 'a picture paints a thousand words'. I have completed a CPCAB approved Creative Counsellors course.
I have also complete the APCCA (Association for Person Centred Creative Arts) Certificate Course. This is an intensive course in applying the Person Centred approach to working therapeutically with art.
If you would like to make an appointment or any other information, then please contact me.
Sessions are 50 mins long and I charge £50 for each session. Group session fees are variable.
If you cancel a session within 24 hrs of it due to start, I still have to charge for the session.
During the first session I will explain a ‘contract’. Which is really just an agreement between us, so that you know what to expect from me with regards to confidentiality etc.
